OmegaWindow is a mouse-free window manipulating and application managing program for Apple® Macintosh™.  OmegaWindow provides keyboard shortcuts for things that normally have to be done using the mouse.  The heart of the OmegaWindow package is a system extension.  The package also includes an application for customizing OmegaWindow’s features.  Currently OmegaWindow has the following features implemented using keyboard shortcuts:

  14. • Switch from one application to another:  allows direct switching to other applications.
  15. • Activate a specific window:  when bringing an application to the front you can select a window to be brought to the front with the application.
  16. • Automatically hide windows belonging to other applications.
  17. • Move and resize windows:  works with any zoomable window.
  18. • Zoom window.
  19. • Close one or all of the windows.
  20. • Bring the back-most window to the front. 
  21. • Send the front-most window to the back.
  22. • Swap the two front-most windows.
  23. • Hide/Show the front-most window (Up to 7).
  24. • Hide/Show the front-most application.
  25. • Switch to the next or previous application.
  26. • Go to the Finder™.

  34. Installing OmegaWindow
  35.  
  36. The main OmegaWindow has the  four items shown below below.

  53. (1) Just drag and drop the “OmegaWindow INIT” on your system folder icon. 
  54. (2) Press the OK button if the Finder notifies you that the “OmegaWindow INIT” should be in the Extensions folder.
  55. (3) Restart your Mac.
  56. (4) You can put the OmegaWindow application any place you like.  Double-click “OmegaWindow” application to set up your personalized command shortcuts.
  57. (5) You can then use your keyboard commands.

  59. • I must warn you that the personalized command settings will be cleared every week until you register your version of OmegaWindow.

  61. Compatibility problem

  63.     Before using OmegaWindow’s feature to any application you haven’ t tested with, please make sure that they are compatible with your application.   This will prevent you from loosing a significant amount of your work.

  67.     OmegaWindow is shareware and is Copyright 1993 by Hyo E. Ahn.  Unregistered copies of OmegaWindow can be distributed freely through the internet archives, BBSs, users’ groups and the like, provided there is no charge except for reasonable usage and/or duplication fees.  Registered copies of OmegaWindow should never be distributed under any circumstances.  It is prohibited to distribute the OmegaWindow package for a profit without written permission from author.

  71. To register your copy of OmegaWindow, you can do one of the following: pull down the “Registration” menu from the OmegaWindow application and select the “About registration” menu item, and then press the “Print registration form” button, or use the form found at the end of this document.

  81.     - Fixed the bus error:  When a user open the omega window application to modify some things, it will not open and says an error of type 1 occurred.  Then if the user try to open it again, it says that the INIT is not installed.

  83.     - Fixed the problem of not quitting an application after selecting “Shut Down” or “Restart” from the special menu.

  85.     - The problem of slowing down Microsoft® Excel™ solved.   You can now use OmegaWindow shortcuts at Excel™ with 32-bit mode turned on.
